Ungana Kuwasha: Igniting Hope for Mannya Parish, Uganda

Our 2026 Focus: Mannya, Uganda
Mannya Parish - Growing hope, Sustaining Futures
Mannya Parish is a beacon of hope for families and young people in rural Uganda. Through community-led initiatives such as the Sustainable Coffee Program and the support of St Joseph’s Kensekka, the Parish empowers vulnerable households through education, meaningful employment, and skills development. Rooted in dignity and self-reliance, these initiatives ensure that families are not only supported today, but equipped to build sustainable futures for generations to come.

Shaping Futures
In Mannya Parish, many families face ongoing challenges linked to limited infrastructure, including access to clean water, reliable employment, and essential services. A strong reliance on small-scale agriculture leaves households vulnerable to seasonal change and economic instability. The long-term impact of past political unrest and the HIV/AIDS epidemic has also left many children without stable family support.
In response, Mannya Parish is committed to strengthening the community by:
-
Supporting sustainable livelihoods through employment, training, and income-generating initiatives such as the Sustainable Coffee Program
-
Investing in education and young people, particularly through St Joseph’s Kensekka, to create pathways beyond poverty
-
Building community resilience by developing skills, self-reliance, and local leadership
-
Upholding the dignity of every person, especially those most vulnerable, through parish-led care and accompaniment
Building brighter futures

Through education, skills training, and community-led initiatives, Mannya Parish empowers families and young people to build sustainable and dignified futures. Beyond the classroom, the Parish works closely with households and the wider community to strengthen self-reliance, foster opportunity, and create long-term change.
How you can support this mission this Lent
The work of Mannya Parish is strengthened through generous support and fundraising initiatives such as the St Pius X College Lenten Appeal – Ungana Kuwasha. Every donation helps provide:
